Hon. Ucheonye Debunks False Report On Alleged Assault Involving Abia Assembly Majority Leader

The Member representing Aba South Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Ucheonye, has refuted a viral social media report alleging a physical altercation between him and the Majority Leader, Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu.

The report, which claimed that the Majority Leader attacked him with a beer bottle during an argument over a supposed cash gift from Governor Alex Otti, has been described by Hon. Ucheonye as false, malicious, and the handiwork of mischief-makers.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Hon. Ucheonye dismissed the story as a fabrication intended to tarnish the reputation of the State Assembly and create unnecessary tension among lawmakers.

He stated clearly that no such incident occurred, adding that there was no verbal or physical confrontation between him and Hon. Uchenna Kalu or any member of the House.

“The publication is false and ridiculous. There was no fight or disagreement of any kind. Those spreading this falsehood are desperate individuals seeking to discredit the unity and progress of the Abia State House of Assembly,” he said.

Hon. Ucheonye reaffirmed that since the inauguration of the 8th Assembly, members have continued to work together in peace and mutual respect to deliver quality legislation and support people-centered policies initiated by Governor Alex Otti.

He emphasized that the Assembly remains focused on advancing the interests of Abians and warned those peddling fake news to desist from such acts or face legal consequences.

“I have no personal or professional issues with Hon. Uchenna Kalu. We work together as brothers for the development of our dear state. The story making rounds is baseless and should be ignored,” he stated.

He urged the public to disregard the misleading publication, describing it as a failed attempt by political detractors to distract lawmakers from their responsibilities.

Hon. Ucheonye concluded by reaffirming the Assembly’s unity, focus, and shared commitment to serve Abia people with integrity and accountability.
