Abia Police Disbands Anti-Cultism unit, Demotes Officer Over Misconduct, Reiterates Zero-Tolerance for Indiscipline
The Abia State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to upholding discipline and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force by taking decisive action against officers found guilty of misconduct. This follows allegations of unprofessional conduct and incivility towards members of the public.
In a notable disciplinary measure, Corporal Okonkwo Ebuka, attached to the Aba Area Command and on special duty in Isuochi, has been demoted to the rank of Constable. The demotion was implemented after an orderly room trial found him guilty of discreditable and unprofessional behavior.
According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the disciplinary action was taken under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa. The Commissioner emphasized the Command’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and unprofessional behavior by officers, stating that such actions tarnish the image of the Force and erode public trust.
CP Danladi Isa further reiterated the Force’s dedication to professionalism, public service, and adherence to the rule of law. He noted that the actions taken are aligned with the vision of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to create a service-driven and people-friendly police force.
In an effort to maintain transparency and rebuild trust, the Abia State Command has urged members of the public to report any unprofessional behavior by officers. Complaints can be directed to the Complaint Response Unit of the Command through the helpline 09031593827.
The Commissioner of Police assured the public that such reports will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken to ensure accountability within the Force.
