Nollywood Star Ngozi Nwosu Declares She Won't Offer Free Services to Abia State After Past Neglect

In a bold and candid revelation, Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu announced that she will no longer offer her services to her home state of Abia for free, citing a lack of support from the state government during her health crisis. Reflecting on her challenging battle with a kidney-related illness in 2012, the seasoned actress revealed she has made a personal vow that any future requests from her state will come with a high price tag.

Nwosu shared her experience in an interview with Nollywood on Radio, where she opened up about her health struggle, recounting the critical support she received—not from Abia, but from the Lagos State government. "The fame I had through the roles I played in series helped me when I needed it," Nwosu stated. She explained that a compassionate individual, who admired her acting, rallied the Lagos State government to assist her in her time of need.

Born in Arochukwu local government area of Abia State, Nwosu expressed her disappointment that her home state did not come to her aid. “I have personally said it, there is nothing my state will call me for that I would go for free,” she declared, adding that if Abia State seeks her services, “they would pay through their nose for me to be there.”

Her story has drawn attention not only to the struggles celebrities face in times of crisis but also to the critical need for better support structures in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Nwosu, who began her illustrious career in Yoruba-language films, rose to prominence with her role in the groundbreaking Igbo-language film *Living in Bondage*, a movie credited with launching the Nigerian video film era. Now 61, she continues to play iconic roles, yet her experience with depression, fueled by the public scrutiny around her health, serves as a reminder of the emotional toll fame can take.
