Governor Alex Otti To Flag Off Reconstruction Of Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene And Ariam–Usaka Ring Roads In Ikwuano

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is set to officially flag off the reconstruction of two major roads in Ikwuano Local Government Area — the 25-kilometre Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road and the 13.1-kilometre Ariam–Usaka Ring Road.

According to a government announcement, the events will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025. The flag-off of the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road will hold at Timber Market, Ahia-Eke, Umuahia North LGA by 11:00 a.m., while the Ariam–Usaka Ring Road ceremony will follow at Obeama Ariam Model Primary School, Ikwuano LGA, by 12:00 noon.

The projects are part of Governor Otti’s infrastructure renewal strategy aimed at restoring critical road networks, improving rural connectivity, and stimulating economic activities across the state.

The Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road is a key inter-state route linking Abia with Akwa Ibom, serving as a major corridor for trade, agriculture, and transportation. Its reconstruction is expected to ease movement, reduce travel time, and enhance access for farmers and traders across both states.

Similarly, the Ariam–Usaka Ring Road will open up rural communities in Ikwuano, boost agricultural productivity, and improve access to markets and social amenities. The project underscores the administration’s emphasis on inclusive development, ensuring that rural areas benefit from government infrastructure investments.

The state government has extended invitations to political leaders, traditional rulers, transport unions, community stakeholders, youth and women groups, and residents of Ikwuano to attend the flag-off. Guests are expected to be seated before the Governor’s arrival.

Governor Otti’s ongoing infrastructure drive aligns with his broader economic agenda to rebuild Abia through quality roads, rural development, and private-sector-led growth.
