The Abia State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a string of violent robberies targeting students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), and other residents of the surrounding community. The arrests were made following a decisive raid carried out along the Uturu/Isuikwuato axis on July 16, 2025.
The operation, led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Uturu Division in collaboration with vigilant local residents, uncovered a hideout used by the suspected criminals. The arrested individuals include:

During the raid, the police recovered several items believed to be stolen or used in criminal activities, including:

The suspects were allegedly involved in multiple incidents of armed robbery in the ABSU community, with students and other residents frequently falling victim. The police have stated that investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
The Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, reaffirmed the Command's commitment to flushing out criminal elements in the state, especially around Uturu and Isuikwuato, which have witnessed a series of security challenges. He revealed that additional raids had been conducted, leading to the dismantling of more criminal hideouts in the area.
