Amobi Ogah Dismisses Labour Party Suspension, Reaffirms Loyalty to Governor Alex Otti

Federal lawmaker representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah, has publicly dismissed his suspension from the Labour Party as baseless and politically motivated, insisting it holds no weight and will not affect his commitment to the people and his unwavering support for Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Hon. Ogah labeled the suspension a “meaningless” political drama orchestrated by forces within the party who feel threatened by the visible transformation occurring in Abia under Governor Otti’s leadership.

“The so-called suspension means absolutely nothing to me. I remain a servant of the people who elected me. My loyalty to Governor Alex Otti and his transformational agenda in Abia is total and unshakable,” Ogah said.

Hon. Ogah was one of six prominent Labour Party members, including Governor Alex Otti and Senators Ireti Kingibe and Darlington Nwokocha, who were suspended by the party’s National Executive Council on grounds of alleged anti-party activities. The suspensions followed the recommendation of a five-man disciplinary committee set up by the party on May 2, 2025.

Ogah, however, described the process as a “smokescreen” designed to distract the public from more pressing internal issues within the Labour Party.

“This is clearly the handiwork of people threatened by Governor Otti’s success. But let me assure them—no amount of intimidation or political drama can derail the new Abia we are building,” he declared.

The lawmaker expressed full confidence in Governor Otti’s leadership, calling him the “best thing to have happened to Abia in decades.” He emphasized that his support for the governor is both full-time and irrevocable, stating that both the people and their representatives are solidly behind the Otti administration.

Political observers suggest that the suspension has further exposed deep factional cracks within the Labour Party, particularly in Abia State, where Ogah and Otti enjoy significant grassroots support and public goodwill.

In a call for calm, Hon. Ogah assured his constituents of his unwavering commitment to effective representation in the National Assembly.

“I will not be distracted. The people of Isuikwuato and Umunneochi sent me to the National Assembly, and I remain focused on that assignment,” he added.

Despite the suspension, Ogah maintains that his legislative mandate remains intact and his partnership with Governor Otti’s government continues to grow stronger, as both leaders focus on delivering good governance, development, and empowerment to Abians.
