Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor Endorses Governor Alex Otti, Urges Abians to Prioritize Development Over Politics

In a move that has sent ripples across the Abia political landscape, Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has publicly thrown his weight behind the administration of Governor Alex Otti. The endorsement, made at a well-attended NULGE (Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees) event in Umuahia, marks a significant moment of political maturity and unity rarely seen in Nigeria's partisan climate.
Speaking passionately to an applauding crowd, Engr. Nwafor praised Governor Otti's transformative leadership, noting visible improvements across the state. He emphasized that even a blind man could “see the impact of governance" under the current administration.
"Even if you are a blind man and you go to Port Harcourt, you will do everything possible to support this government,"Nwafor declared to cheers.
Reflecting on his own experience traveling from Aba to Umuahia, he highlighted the complete absence of waste heaps along the route, which he described as a testament to the government's seriousness and efficiency.
"There was not a single heap of waste from Aba to Umuahia. That alone tells you this government is serious,"he added.
Drawing a vivid analogy, Nwafor asked the crowd, "If you send your child to school and he comes first in class, won't you send him again?"His rhetorical question underscored his point that competent leadership, no matter where it comes from, deserves continued support.
While acknowledging that many of Governor Otti's initiatives align with his own vision for Abia State, Nwafor humbly stated, "Power comes from God and everyone has their time."
"If your brother is doing well, you support him you don't envy him,"he concluded.
Nwafor's remarks were met with admiration for their statesmanship and sincerity, earning praise from various quarters for setting a new tone of constructive opposition and political unity.
Political analysts note that the endorsement may sway public opinion and encourage more cross-party support, especially among young voters and fence-sitters.
The reaction from within YPP ranks has been mixed, with some party loyalists expressing surprise at the blunt endorsement, while others commend Nwafor for placing the state's development above political allegiance.
As Abia continues to witness rapid infrastructural and environmental improvements under Governor Otti's leadership, this gesture of support from a former rival is seen as a powerful symbol of what governance can achieve when unity and shared purpose replace political rivalry.
