Governor Alex Otti to Receive Former Deputy Governor Ude Oko Chukwu into Labour Party

The political space in Abia State is set for a major shift as Governor Alex Otti will on Saturday, August 23, 2025, formally receive the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, into the Labour Party.

The reception ceremony will take place at Etitiama Primary School, Nkporo, in Ohafia Local Government Area. The event is expected to attract party leaders, political stakeholders, and supporters from across the state.

This development marks a significant realignment in Abia politics, as Ude Oko Chukwu, who served as Deputy Governor between 2015 and 2023, officially leaves the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join forces with Governor Otti under the Labour Party.

Already, reports indicate that thousands of supporters across Abia North Senatorial Zone have resigned their membership of the PDP and will be received into the Labour Party alongside the former Deputy Governor.
