Senator Orji Uzor Kalu Sends Three Abia North Students To China On Fully Sponsored Scholarships

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has announced the departure of three young constituents from Abia North Senatorial District to China for postgraduate studies under the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) scheme. The initiative was facilitated through the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation.

The beneficiaries include:

• Sunny O. Idika, from Ohafor Ward, Ohafia Local Government Area, admitted into an MBA programme at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.
• Emmanuel Iheakachukwu Odoemelam, from Eziama Agbo Ward, Nneato, Umunneochi Local Government Area, admitted into a Ph.D. programme in Organic Chemistry at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT).
• Kingsley Onwukwe Orji, from Igbere Ward A, Bende Local Government Area, admitted into an MBA programme at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.

Senator Kalu expressed joy over the opportunity being granted to young people in his constituency, describing the development as part of his commitment to human capital development.

“I am delighted to announce that three of my constituents have departed Nigeria for China to pursue their postgraduate studies on fully sponsored scholarships through the Chinese Scholarship Council, facilitated by the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation,” he stated.

The senator explained that the scholarship package is fully comprehensive, covering tuition, accommodation, health insurance, and monthly stipends. He stressed that this support will allow the students to focus entirely on their academic pursuits.

Kalu emphasized that education remains a key driver of sustainable growth, adding that Nigeria’s future depends on equipping young people with knowledge, skills, and international exposure.

“The future of our country rests on empowering our young people with the right knowledge, skills, and exposure. I am proud that, through this scholarship, our youths will not only gain world-class education but also bring back valuable expertise to help build Nigeria,” Kalu said.

Over the years, the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation has facilitated several scholarship opportunities both within and outside Nigeria. The senator reaffirmed that education will continue to remain a priority in his interventions for his constituents.
