COSEYL Hails Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the Most Respected Political Leader in the South-East

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex sociopolitical youth organization in the South-East, has commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for his outstanding leadership, political influence, and consistent commitment to the development of the region.

In a statement released on Wednesday, COSEYL described Senator Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on South-East Development Commission, as “the most respected political leader in the South-East.”

According to the coalition, Senator Kalu’s political foresight and sacrifices have been instrumental in shaping the region’s political trajectory, particularly through his role in facilitating defections of opposition governors, lawmakers, and other key figures to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

COSEYL noted that Kalu’s influence has strengthened the South-East’s political presence at the national level, fostering greater unity and inclusion within the Nigerian federation.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has consistently proven himself as a relentless advocate for the Ndigbo and democracy at large. His dedication has not gone unnoticed, especially given the personal sacrifices he made for the progress of our people,” the statement read.

The youth leaders recalled that Senator Kalu, despite being targeted for his outspoken views and political courage, never wavered in his commitment to justice and equity. They referenced his past ordeal, including the revocation of his airline license during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, as evidence of his resilience and unyielding spirit.

“Despite facing severe repercussions, Senator Kalu remained resolute in his fight for justice, equity, and the betterment of Nigeria. His unwavering stance in the face of adversity reflects the character of a true leader who places the welfare of his people above personal gain,” COSEYL stated.

The group further praised Kalu’s continued efforts to promote political stability, economic empowerment, and infrastructural development in the South-East. They described him as a “hero of democracy” whose leadership has inspired confidence and progress among the youth and wider population.

“Senator Kalu knows the challenges facing our people and has taken significant steps to address them. His commitment to the advancement of the South-East is evident in his initiatives and influence at the national level. We recognize and salute his sacrifices and achievements,” the group declared.

COSEYL reaffirmed its support for Senator Kalu and urged other political leaders from the region to emulate his consistency, humility, and results-driven approach to governance and national politics.
