President Tinubu to Lead Groundbreaking Ceremony for Abia Medical City Superspecialty Hospital in Isiala Ngwa South

The Abia State Government, in partnership with MKP International Holding, is set to make history with the official groundbreaking of the Abia Medical City Ultramodern Superspecialty Hospital and Health Tourism City. This landmark event will be performed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Thursday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Umuocheala, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
The Abia Medical City project is a bold stride under the visionary leadership of Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, as part of his “New Abia” agenda focused on transforming the state into a leading hub for medical innovation, health tourism, and advanced healthcare delivery in Nigeria and across West Africa.
In a press statement, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, the Honourable Commissioner for Health and coordinator of the event, described the project as a game-changer that will “redefine healthcare delivery in Abia State.” He noted that the facility will not only provide world-class medical services but also create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for Abians.
The Abia Medical City will serve as a superspecialty referral center, attracting both local and international patients. It is designed to feature cutting-edge infrastructure for diagnostics, surgery, treatment, and wellness services, supported by modern health technology and highly trained personnel.
Dignitaries expected at the groundbreaking include top federal and state government officials, major players in Nigeria’s healthcare industry, foreign and local investors, traditional rulers, and stakeholders from the Abia diaspora community.
The project also aligns with the Otti-led administration’s broader commitment to infrastructure development, economic revitalization, and people-focused governance in Abia.
As the countdown to May 23 begins, all eyes are on Abia State as it positions itself at the forefront of health sector transformation in Nigeria.
