Governor Otti Chairs Monthly Security Council Meeting, Reaffirms Commitment to Peace and Safety in Abia

The Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, on Tuesday, May 14, 2025, presided over the monthly Security Council Meeting aimed at reviewing and reinforcing the state’s security strategies and ongoing peace efforts.
The high-level meeting, which held in Umuahia, brought together all heads of government security agencies operating within the state, including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Customs Service, Immigration, Civil Defence, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Abia State Homeland Security.
Following the closed-door session, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah (Rtd.), addressed the press and emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the prevailing calm and secure environment across the state.
Commander Ubah lauded the collaborative spirit among security agencies in Abia, particularly their seamless cooperation in intelligence sharing, joint operations, and proactive crime prevention. He noted that the elimination of inter-agency rivalry under Governor Otti’s leadership has greatly improved operational efficiency and public trust in the state’s security architecture.
“We are grateful to all the security chiefs for their presence and dedication to this monthly security council meeting,” Ubah said. “This platform allows us to critically assess the current security landscape and adjust strategies to consolidate our progress and tackle emerging threats.”
He reassured the citizens of Abia that the government would continue to provide the resources and political will necessary to empower security personnel in the discharge of their duties. “Governor Otti is fully committed to supporting security agencies and ensuring Abia remains a safe place to live and invest,” he added.
The meeting marks another step in Governor Otti’s proactive approach to governance and public safety, highlighting his administration’s focus on collaboration, transparency, and effective policy execution in security matters.
