Kalu Says Politicians Are Fueling Nigeria’s Rising Insecurity to Undermine Tinubu

Former Abia State governor and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has accused top political figures of fueling the recent surge in killings and abductions across Nigeria. He said the pattern of violence shows a clear plan to weaken President Bola Tinubu.

Kalu spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics. He said the attacks follow a steady pattern that points to political sabotage, not random crime. He stressed that certain individuals want Tinubu to fail, just like they tried to frustrate former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Kalu said both local and foreign actors are driving the rise in banditry and terrorism. He described the attacks as a coordinated push toward instability. He explained that this style of insecurity often appears close to election seasons.

He said some international interests and local sponsors are pushing the violence. He said their goal is to create tension that weakens the current administration.

Kalu praised President Tinubu for placing security above all other duties. He noted that the President suspended official engagements to focus on rescue efforts and national safety. He said service chiefs and security operatives are now fully engaged.

Kalu expressed strong hope for the rescue of abducted victims, including the recently kidnapped schoolgirls. He said efforts are active and ongoing. He admitted the period is tough for the country but urged citizens to trust the ongoing operations.

He also commended the military for stepping up operations in key areas. He said he expects firm results soon.
