2027 Election Will Be Tinubu vs Tinubu – Orji Kalu Declares

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has said the 2027 presidential election will be a one-sided contest, describing it as “Tinubu versus Tinubu.”Speaking with journalists at the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday, the former Abia State governor argued that President Bola Tinubu currently has no credible challenger across Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Has he gotten anyone contesting against him? The election is Tinubu vs Tinubu, just like Soludo vs Soludo. The President has no opposition. Our party is fully on ground and with the people,” Kalu stated.

The lawmaker, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), compared the anticipated 2027 election to the recent Anambra governorship poll where Governor Charles Soludo reportedly faced minimal opposition and won overwhelmingly.

Kalu credited the absence of strong opposition to what he called Tinubu’s “firm leadership” and the ruling party’s “deep grassroots connection.” He said the APC remains the only party with visible structures and voter loyalty in all 36 states.

According to him, President Tinubu’s economic and security reforms are already yielding results, restoring confidence in governance, and strengthening the foundation for national growth.

He urged Nigerians to remain patient as the administration implements long-term policies aimed at reducing inflation, stabilizing the naira, and supporting local production.

Kalu’s comments come amid growing political realignments across regions, with reports suggesting that several opposition figures, including Anambra Governor Charles Soludo, are considering joining the APC ahead of 2027.

His statement signals the APC’s confidence going into the next general election, portraying Tinubu as the dominant political figure in Nigeria’s current landscape.
