Gov. Otti Orders Immediate Repairs on Osisioma Flyover Due to Structural Defects

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has initiated urgent repair work on the Osisioma flyover, highlighting serious structural defects that have emerged barely two years after its construction. The announcement was made during the commissioning of the newly built Aba North Administrative Office Complex and the resurfaced Local Government Road, executed by Mayor Ide John Udeagbala.

Governor Otti expressed grave concerns regarding the flyover's deteriorating condition, which was commissioned in 2022 by the previous administration. Observing signs of severe wear, he remarked, “We don’t want the bridge to collapse. We do not know why two years after commissioning the bridge it would be caving in, but we will find out and we’ll repair it.”

The governor emphasized his commitment to ensuring the safety and integrity of public infrastructure. He reassured citizens, stating, “We strongly believe that the government is a continuum, and if there is anything that was not done properly, we will go there and fix it.” This proactive stance indicates a dedication to addressing past oversights and enhancing the state’s infrastructure.

The repairs on the Osisioma flyover will be overseen by the Commissioner for Works and his team, who are expected to mobilize immediately to assess and rectify the issues. This move has sparked discussions about the quality of construction and maintenance practices within the state, underscoring the importance of accountability in governance.

As Abia State continues to develop, the focus remains on ensuring that infrastructure projects meet safety standards and serve the needs of the community effectively.
