Abia State Welcomes President Tinubu for Historic Road Commissioning in Aba

The Government of Abia State has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will visit Aba on Friday, October 3, 2025, to commission several newly completed roads executed under Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s administration.

The visit is seen as a historic moment for the state, underscoring both federal recognition of Abia’s infrastructure transformation and the renewed partnership between the Federal Government and the Abia State Government in delivering sustainable development.

According to an official statement, the following strategic road projects will be commissioned during the presidential visit:

  • Port Harcourt Road, designed as a dual carriageway with three lanes on each side and drainage system
  • Ohanku Road
  • Ndoki Road
  • Ajiwe Street
  • Umuatako Road
  • Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs, Abayi, Aba
  • Gabriel Nwosu Street

In line with the state’s new infrastructure standards, all the commissioned roads have been fitted with solar-powered floodlights. This, the government said, reflects Governor Otti’s vision for modern, safe, and sustainable road projects across Abia.

As part of the visit, a civic reception in honor of President Tinubu will be held at the Aba Township Stadium, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Government of Abia State, in its message of appreciation, welcomed the President warmly and called on all Abians, including the Aba business community, town unions, youth, and women groups, to turn out in large numbers to give him a befitting reception.

Governor Otti’s administration has been widely praised for prioritizing Aba’s infrastructural renewal, with the completion of roads long considered critical to commerce and mobility. The President’s presence is expected to further cement confidence in the ongoing development of Abia State.
