Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has disclosed his monthly earnings of N14 million during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. Senator Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, asserted that his N14 million salary encompasses all expenses, including staff salaries and overhead costs. He argued that this amount is insufficient to cover essential costs, such as fuel for travel to his constituency and the maintenance of his constituency office.
Addressing common perceptions about lawmakers’ benefits, Kalu refuted claims that they are provided with official vehicles for personal use. He clarified that only committees within the National Assembly receive vehicles, emphasizing, “no lawmaker is given any vehicle.”
