The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Ms. Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, who was killed during an armed robbery incident in Abuja on Monday, September 29, 2025.

In a statement from his office, Governor Otti described the young broadcaster’s death as shocking and painful, lamenting that her flourishing career and promising life were cut short by criminals with no respect for human life.

“The untimely death of Ms. Maduagwu is heartbreaking. Her beautiful life and flourishing career were brought to an abrupt end by criminals who must be brought to justice,” Otti said.

The Governor urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident, unmask those responsible, and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

While extending his heartfelt condolences, Governor Otti prayed for God to grant eternal rest to Ms. Maduagwu’s soul. He also sympathized with her family, friends, loved ones, and the management and staff of Arise TV, encouraging them to take solace in the impactful life she lived and the promise of life after death.

This tragic loss has sparked renewed calls for stronger security measures across the country to curb rising incidents of violent crimes.
