Abia Government Orders Mechanics and Spare Parts Dealers to Relocate to Ovom Industrial Cluster by October 15
The Abia State Government has directed all mechanics and auto spare parts dealers in Aba to relocate to the Ovom Industrial Mechanic Cluster, Ogbor Hill, by October 15, 2025. The move aims to decongest Aba metropolis and promote a safer, more organized business environment.

The Abia State Government has issued a final relocation directive to all mechanics and auto spare parts dealers operating along major roads in Aba, including School/Clifford Road, Hospital Road, Jubilee Road, and Azikiwe Road.
According to an official public announcement, the affected traders in Aba North, Aba South, and Obingwa Local Government Areas are required to move their businesses to the Ovom Industrial Mechanic Cluster, Ogbor Hill, on or before October 15, 2025.
Government officials emphasized that this relocation order is part of ongoing efforts to decongest Aba metropolis, enhance public safety, and create a more organized and business-friendly environment for both residents and investors.
The statement recalled that the State Government had earlier granted a one-year grace period—at the request of the dealers—to allow adequate time for transition. However, that grace period expired in May 2025, and no further extensions will be given.
Authorities warned that strict enforcement of the relocation directive will commence immediately after the deadline. Traders who fail to comply may face penalties or have their shops sealed.
The government also assured all affected businesses that adequate facilities have been provided at the new Ovom Industrial Mechanic Cluster, which is designed to promote orderliness, ease of access, and improved service delivery.
For clarification or inquiries, affected dealers are advised to visit the Ministry of Industry and SMEs at the New Secretariat in Umuahia.
This relocation marks another phase of the state’s broader urban renewal plan aimed at transforming Aba into a cleaner, safer, and economically vibrant city.
