Governor Otti Inaugurates Two New Appointees, Charges Them to Deliver Excellence

Governor Alex Otti has officially sworn in two newly appointed government officials, charging them to put in their best efforts in serving the people of Abia State.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall, Abia State Government House, Umuahia, was attended by senior government officials and stakeholders.
Governor Otti reiterated his administration's commitment to accountability, stressing that Abia State has high expectations for all public officials.

Here, we have zero tolerance for corruption and poor performance. I charge you to give your best. Our expectations are always very high because the standards Abia people deserve are also very high."

He emphasized that government appointees must work diligently to meet the demands of the people and uphold integrity in their duties.

Governor Otti expressed confidence in the competence and experience of both appointees, highlighting their track records and ability to contribute significantly to their respective roles.

Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Meribole-Special Adviser on Projects

Dr. Meribole, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Aviation, is already involved in the Abia Airport project. The Governor assured that his expertise would ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of projects.

"Coming from that industry, I believe that we can go to bed with our eyes closed because he already knows what to do. He has started engaging and monitoring the contractors, ensuring that everything goes well in the construction."

Beyond the airport, Dr. Meribole will oversee various infrastructure projects to ensure quality, efficiency, and timely completion.

Governor Otti explained that Rev. Dr. Onu's role is to strengthen the relationship between the Abia Diaspora and the state, encouraging diaspora contributions to economic and social development.

"Your job is to coordinate the Abia Diaspora Commission and ensure that contact between them and home is maintained. Those who can contribute to the development of the state will have a structured channel to do so."

Her appointment formalizes her authority in the commission, transitioning from her previous role as a member to the Executive Secretary.

In response, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole expressed gratitude to the Governor, promising to bring his experience and expertise to infrastructure development in Abia State.
