EFCC Arrests 48 for Internet Fraud in Umudike, Abia State

The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 48 individuals in Umudike, Abia State, on allegations of internet fraud. The operation, which took place on Friday, August 30, 2024, was conducted across various locations in Umudike following credible intelligence linking the suspects to cybercrime activities.

The EFCC operatives seized a significant haul during the operation, including 12 luxury vehicles, 15 laptops of various brands, and 68 high-end smartphones. These items are believed to be linked to the suspects' fraudulent activities.

A statement from the EFCC confirmed that the suspects will be arraigned in court once the ongoing investigations are completed.
