APGA Condemns Assault by House of Representatives Member Alex Ikwechegh

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has publicly condemned the assault of a Bolt driver by Alex Ikwechegh, the federal representative for Aba North and South. This condemnation follows the emergence of a viral video depicting the incident, where Ikwechegh is seen physically confronting the driver delivering an item to his residence.

In an official statement released by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, APGA described the lawmaker’s behavior as "condemnable in all ramifications," asserting that it starkly contrasts with the values enshrined in the party’s constitution. The statement emphasizes that such conduct is unacceptable and undermines the party’s commitment to human dignity and respect.

In response to the incident, APGA has announced the establishment of a disciplinary committee tasked with investigating the matter. Should the committee find Ikwechegh guilty, appropriate sanctions will be enforced in accordance with the party’s constitutional guidelines.

Opara’s statement reinforced APGA’s dedication to maintaining high standards of conduct among its members and elected officials, urging them to uphold civility and decorum in all interactions. He reiterated the party’s founding principles, stating, “As a political party founded on respect for human rights, we roundly condemn the action of our said member... This action is totally unacceptable and runs counter to what our Party – APGA – represents.”
