APC Vows To Take Over Leadership Of Abia State In 2027

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has expressed its confidence in taking over the leadership of Abia State in the 2027 elections, with a commitment to delivering more democratic dividends to the people of the state.
This assurance was made by the Abia State APC Chairman, Kingsley Ononogbu, during a political rally at the Abiriba Stadium in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area on Friday. The event marked the official defection of a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kelvin Jombo Onumah, alongside his supporters, to the APC.
Speaking at the event, Ononogbu highlighted the contributions of key APC leaders, including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the Senate, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu in the House of Representatives, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, as pivotal achievements that will drive the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
“The APC is ready to provide more democratic dividends for Abia people. We will build on the track record of our party leaders, whose accomplishments have greatly impacted Abia State. With their achievements, we are confident of securing victory in 2027,” Ononogbu stated.
Kelvin Jombo Onumah, the newest APC member and a former PDP chieftain, stated his decision to join the APC was driven by a desire to bring development to his Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency and Abia North as a whole.
“I am joining the APC to attract development to my people and add value to the party’s efforts in transforming our constituency and the state,” Jombo remarked.
At the event, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu called for patience from Nigerians regarding President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms. He assured the public that the challenges currently facing the nation, including economic hardship, will eventually be overcome.
“President Tinubu’s economic reforms are geared towards long-term benefits for Nigerians. I urge everyone to remain patient and hopeful as we navigate these tough times,” Kalu said.
He also emphasized the APC’s position as the largest political party in the country and called for fair media coverage of the party’s achievements.
In response to the APC’s declarations, the Abia State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abraham Amah, issued a statement on Friday. He expressed optimism about the PDP’s ability to regain its standing in the state, stating, “Our party will bounce back to the amazement of naysayers and detractors.”
