Any Public Official Who Takes Bribe Under My Watch Will be Fired —Governor Otti, Says His Administration Is Here To Restore Dignity Of Abia People

Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reiterated that his administration’s core mission is to restore the dignity of Abians, stressing that any public official caught engaging in bribery or corruption would be immediately dismissed.

The Governor made this known on Sunday during an unannounced visit to the Abayi District of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Aba Conference, as well as at the Living Word Ministries International, during the 50th wedding anniversary of the General Overseer, Bro. Emma Okorie, and his wife.

Governor Otti emphasized that his decision to join politics was driven by the desire to restore the pride and integrity of Abia people, not personal gain.

“What we have come to do in Abia is nothing other than restoring dignity. The only reason I showed up to contest elections is about the dignity of our people. It is not about money. Anything that will not restore the dignity of the Abia Man, count us out,” he declared.

He warned his appointees against corruption, insisting that anyone who accepts bribes or engages in fraudulent practices will be fired without apology.

“That is why you will never see bribery and corruption in this Government. If you get involved, I’ll fire you. We are intolerant of corruption and nobody can plead for you. If you get involved in bribery and corruption, you are gone,” the Governor said.

Governor Otti also highlighted the recruitment of 5,394 teachers, noting that the exercise was completely merit-based and free from financial inducements or favoritism. He said that even those who knew him personally had to sit for exams and only those who passed were offered employment.

He further assured Abians that the days of corrupt practices in governance were over, stressing that his administration would not apologize to those who oppose his reforms.

“Those who are not happy with what we are doing, we will not apologize to them. They have had their time. So we have now drawn the line. From now on, Abia is on the rise,” Dr. Otti affirmed.

The Governor also disclosed that President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, will commission major road projects in Aba on October 3rd, including the reconstructed Port Harcourt Road and Ohanku Road.

Clergy and church leaders praised the Governor’s leadership style and reforms. Pastor Macaulay Nwosu of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church lauded the Governor for ending favoritism in recruitment and ensuring regular salary payments, improved healthcare, and road construction. Similarly, Bro. Emma Okorie, General Overseer of Living Word Ministries International, described Otti’s administration as an answer to years of prayers for a true leader in Abia.

The Governor congratulated Bro. Okorie and his wife on their golden jubilee marriage celebration, describing their union as a model for younger generations.

The event featured prayers for the Governor, cutting of the anniversary cake, and tributes to the celebrants’ enduring marriage. Governor Otti was accompanied by state lawmakers, the Mayor of Osisioma LGA, and other top government officials
