Abia Set for Industrial Growth as MD Nwakanma Ltd Announces Solar Energy Battery Factory
MD Nwakanma Nigeria Limited is set to establish a large-scale solar energy battery factory in Isiala Ngwa South, Abia State, creating over 2,000 jobs and positioning Abia as a hub for clean energy and youth empowerment.

Abia State is set to witness a major boost in industrialization and job creation as Mr. Madu Dennis Nwakanma, Chief Executive Officer of MD Nwakanma Nigeria Limited, has unveiled plans to establish a large-scale solar energy battery factory in the state.
The groundbreaking project, which will be located in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, is expected to create over 2,000 direct jobs for indigenes and non-indigenes. According to Mr. Nwakanma, the factory will serve not only as a clean energy hub but also as a solution to rising unemployment in Abia.
In an exclusive interview with ABN TV, Mr. Nwakanma revealed that investors linked to the company would soon arrive in Nigeria to begin installing the production lines. He stressed, however, that the project would only move forward with the full approval and support of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
“We believe in due process and collaboration with government authorities. That’s why we’re counting on the support of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, before full commencement of installation work,” he said.
Mr. Nwakanma explained that the factory’s central goal is to absorb idle hands and provide jobs for thousands of youths across multiple departments. He noted that unemployment fuels crimes such as theft and kidnapping, and emphasized that the initiative will contribute to a safer and more stable Abia State.
“We are not just providing clean energy solutions, but actively solving social challenges such as joblessness,” he said. “By reducing idleness among youths through gainful employment, this initiative will positively impact the security landscape of the state.”
Mr. Nwakanma appealed to media professionals in Abia to amplify the importance of the new development, promising close collaboration with media stakeholders to ensure the public is carried along.
“We want the media to be part of this journey because this is a new dawn for Abia,” he said.
The CEO expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti, the Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Hon. Nnadozie Nwaogugu, and the member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, Hon. Roland Dennis Caesar, for their roles in making the initiative achievable.
“Together, with these visionary leaders, we want to make Abia State proud. With this solar factory, Abia will be great again,” Mr. Nwakanma concluded.
The proposed solar energy battery factory is expected to position Abia as a hub for clean energy solutions in Nigeria, while creating lasting economic and social benefits for the state.
