Abia Govt Urges Citizens to Support Otti’s Administration Through Tax Compliance

The Abia State Government has appealed to residents to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Alex Otti by fulfilling their civic responsibilities, particularly in the area of tax payment, to help fund ongoing and future development projects across the state.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, made the appeal on Thursday at the Government House, Umuahia, while receiving members of the Old Students Association of Triumph Vocational College, Asaga Ohafia. The delegation was led by the Member representing Ohafia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke.

Welcoming his former classmates, Professor Kalu expressed joy over their unity and visit. He reaffirmed that Governor Alex Otti’s administration remains focused on building a better and more prosperous Abia through accountable leadership and people-driven policies.

He highlighted key achievements of the current administration, including massive road construction and reconstruction projects across both urban and rural communities, with Ohafia among the major beneficiaries. The SSG also noted the successful training of 1,000 Abia youths under the Abia Leadership Academy, a programme designed to promote leadership values, civic responsibility, and future-ready skills.

Professor Kalu commended the Old Students Association for their thoughtfulness and sense of solidarity, describing their visit as a reflection of enduring friendship and shared values. He wished them continued progress in their personal and professional pursuits.

In his remarks, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke said the visit was aimed at reconnecting with their old classmate and congratulating him on his well-deserved appointment as Secretary to the State Government.

He praised Professor Kalu’s dedication to public service and lauded his contributions to the Otti-led administration, especially in driving reforms and strengthening governance structures in Abia State. He prayed for divine wisdom upon him and pledged continued legislative support to the state government’s development agenda.

The visit ended with moments of fellowship, reflection on their days at Triumph Vocational College, and renewed commitment to contributing positively to Abia’s growth.
