Abia APC Reacts Strongly To Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu’s Visit To Gov. Otti, Says Accolades For Opposition Misrepresent Party’s Position

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has openly criticized the recent visit of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to Governor Alex Otti, describing it as a personal move that does not reflect the party’s position. In a press statement released by the State Secretariat, the party distanced itself from what it termed “unfounded public accolades” given to the Labour Party-led administration by one of its own.
The APC leadership emphasized that while Senator Kalu’s visit to Governor Otti in his hometown may have appeared cordial, it is not an endorsement of the current administration, which the APC has repeatedly accused of non-transparency, conflicts of interest, and concealment of contract costs.
“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s visit was a personal engagement and does not, in any way, reflect the position or endorsement of the APC in Abia State.”
The party reiterated its long-standing concerns about the governance approach of the Alex Otti-led government, accusing it of masking failures with media praise and failing to meet real developmental standards compared to other states benefiting from APC-led federal support.
“We will not condone a repeat of the 2023 scenario, where some members compromised the party’s integrity for personal benefit without punishment.”
The party warned all members—particularly ward and LGA executives in Senator Kalu’s and Senator Chris Adighije’s constituencies—to be vigilant and prioritize party unity ahead of the 2027 elections. It insisted that party discipline will be strictly enforced, and warned that it will invoke constitutional powers against any act that threatens its internal cohesion or mission to reclaim governance in the state.
In a thinly veiled rebuke of Governor Otti’s administration, the APC said:
“Abians need to know that they are applauding for less work done with much that has been released by the APC government at the center. They should compare Abia with other states to see what has been lost while clapping with one hand.”
The Abia APC ended its statement with a renewed call for focus, unity, and strategic alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promising that no amount of political fraternization or personal ambition will derail the party’s determination to return to power in 2027.
