Governor Otti Grants Automatic Employment To Nine Ex-Corps Members Honoured By President
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has granted automatic employment to nine ex-corps members of Abia origin who won the 2025 Presidential NYSC Honour Awards, recognizing their excellence and service to Nigeria.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has offered automatic employment to nine ex-corps members of Abia origin who recently received the prestigious Presidential NYSC Honour Awards.
The governor made the announcement while receiving the awardees in his office, accompanied by the NYSC State Coordinator, Barr. Gladys Adama. He directed the State Head of Service to issue them their appointment letters without delay.
Governor Otti explained that although the state currently maintains an embargo on employment, he lifted it temporarily to accommodate the awardees, describing them as worthy ambassadors of Abia.
“On behalf of the State Government, you are going to leave here with a token. But beyond the token, I hereby temporarily lift the embargo on employment to employ the nine of you, except if any of you is not interested,” he said.
“So, having lifted that embargo and having employed all of you, I also close the embargo. Honourable Attorney General, please communicate to the Head of Service that the nine of them should be given automatic employment. No interviews. They have already passed the interviews. Go and do your documentation and then you can start work on Monday,” the governor directed.
The governor praised the ex-corps members for their outstanding service, which earned them national recognition. He also commended the NYSC State Coordinator for identifying and presenting them to the state government.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Mr. Nwogu Chinomso from Obingwa LGA expressed gratitude to the governor, describing him as a leader who values excellence. He pledged that they would serve Abia State with loyalty and commitment.
“I want to sincerely express our heartfelt gratitude to you, Your Excellency, for the recognition and encouragement you have given to us. You are a true leader, the Joshua of our time, and our prayer is that God will continue to give you wisdom to pilot the affairs of the State,” he said.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Barr. Gladys Adama, said the nine honorees made Abia proud, having been decorated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2025 Presidential NYSC Honours Award ceremony on July 29. She noted that none of them served in Abia State, as most were posted to Northern states yet still excelled in their primary assignments.
