Senator Orji Uzor Kalu Celebrates IBB at 84
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has celebrated former Military President Ibrahim Babangida at 84, describing him as a mentor, political father, and statesman whose leadership, wisdom, and commitment to Nigeria’s unity remain unmatched.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC), has joined Nigerians in celebrating former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), on his 84th birthday.
In a statement on Sunday, Kalu described Babangida as more than a mentor, calling him a political father who played a major role in shaping his political career.
The lawmaker praised the former Nigerian leader for his courage, vision, and style of leadership, which he said contributed greatly to Nigeria’s unity, peace, and national stability.
“General Babangida is a rare leader whose wealth of wisdom and fatherly guidance have inspired me and many others in the political space. His unwavering belief in the unity of our great country, Nigeria, and his ability to nurture younger leaders stand him out as a statesman of inestimable value,” Kalu said.
He noted that Babangida’s contributions to peace and national integration remain unmatched and should serve as lessons for younger generations of leaders.
Kalu further prayed for God to grant Babangida sound health, peace of mind, and more years of service to humanity. He also urged Nigerians across political and ethnic divides to continue drawing from Babangida’s wealth of knowledge and experience.
The Senator described the Minna-born statesman as a symbol of hope, resilience, and national pride, stressing that his life and legacy would continue to inspire leaders across Nigeria.
