Otti Appoints An Edo Man As Head Of Service In Abia

In a significant administrative development, Benson Ojeikere has been appointed as the new Head of Service (HoS) for the Abia State Civil Service. The announcement was made on Monday through a press statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Kenneth Kalu.

Ojeikere, originally from Edo State, has served as a dedicated civil servant in Abia for several decades, holding various critical positions, including Permanent Secretary at the Government House. His appointment follows a rigorous merit-based selection process approved by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.

The statement highlighted that Ojeikere will assume office as the HoS on December 31, 2024, succeeding Dr. Ngozi Queen Obioma, who is set to retire on the same date.

“Following the conclusion of a rigorous merit-based selection process, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has approved the appointment of Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the new Head of Service for Abia State Civil Service, effective from December 31, 2024,” the statement read.

Governor Otti commended the outgoing HoS, Dr. Obioma, for her exemplary service and significant contributions to the Abia State Civil Service. He expressed gratitude for her dedication and wished her a fulfilling retirement.
