NNPP Elects Kelechi Apugo as Chairman in Abia State

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has successfully concluded its State Congress in Abia State, electing Kelechi Apugo as the party’s Chairman. The Congress, which followed the completion of the Ward and Local Government Congresses, was held in Umuahia, the state capital.
Apugo, who previously served as the acting Chairman of the NNPP in Abia, was overwhelmingly endorsed by delegates during the Congress. His election is said to be a recognition of his exemplary leadership and achievements while in an acting capacity.
Party delegates noted that Apugo’s election as the substantive Chairman was based on his ability to steer the party effectively, particularly during critical periods of growth and restructuring. They expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the NNPP to greater heights in Abia State.
In his acceptance speech, Kelechi Apugo pledged to harness the full potential of the NNPP in Abia State, with a goal of positioning the party to take over the state in the 2027 general elections.
“We are now focused on building a formidable party that will offer the people of Abia State a viable alternative come 2027,” Apugo said. “The NNPP is a strong party with a national spread and a people-oriented manifesto. Our mission is to ensure that the people of Abia enjoy good governance and sustainable development.”
Apugo also urged party members and stakeholders to work collectively towards strengthening the party’s grassroots base, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the party’s objectives.
The NNPP has been gaining traction in Abia State, with the party making significant strides in expanding its influence and presence at both the grassroots and state levels.
