New Democratic Alliance Passes Vote of Confidence on Governor Alex Otti

The New Democratic Alliance (NDA), a progressive political platform made up of development-focused stakeholders in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Alex Chioma Otti, commending his inclusive governance style and developmental strides.

In a communiqué issued after extensive consultations, the group praised the Governor for key appointments that reflect competence, equity, and capacity. The appointments highlighted include:

  • Prince Okey Kanu as Commissioner for Information.
  • Dr. Ngozi Nwagbara as Commissioner in the Abia State Local Government Service Commission.
  • Dr. Akara Emmanuel Ugochukwu and Mrs. Nnenna Emuchey into the Abia State Board of Medicines and Commodities Management Agency.
  • Mrs. Matilda Anyamele as Special Assistant on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy.
  • Barr. Idris Wabara into the Abia State University Governing Board.

The Alliance expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for his promises to address the infrastructural and socioeconomic challenges facing Ukwa East, describing these assurances as a beacon of renewed hope for the people.

The group also commended Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe for his quality representation of the South East at the National Assembly, pledging total support to both leaders in their efforts to deliver good governance and development to Abia.

While affirming its loyalty to the administration, the NDA cautioned the Governor against individuals it described as “disguised opposition” parading as stakeholders in Ukwa East. According to the group, such individuals were involved in undermining democratic values during past elections and should not be allowed to derail the current administration.

The NDA further called on Governor Otti to consider transformative projects that would significantly impact Ukwa East, including the rehabilitation of Ohanku and Obohia Roads, restoration and expansion of electricity supply, and the development of the Azumini Blue River Project as a hub for economic and tourism activities.

The communiqué, jointly signed by the Coordinator, Mr. Ugochukwu Wajini, and the Secretary, Mr. Williams Dinne, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote the collective good of Ukwa East and Abia State at large.
