Governor Otti Pledges Completion of Amorji - Abaiyi - Isi-Court Road Before Year-End

Isialangwa North, Abia State The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has assured the people of Isialangwa North Local Government Area (LGA) that the Amorji - Abaiyi - Isi-Court Road, which was abandoned by the previous administration, will be completed before the end of the year.
Governor Otti made this commitment on Friday, January 31st, at Isi Ngwa Autonomous Community, Ancient Kingdom of Abayi & Amorji, Isialangwa North LGA, during the funeral service of the late His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr. Ukaonu William Uche, the traditional ruler of Abayi Isingwa Autonomous Community, who passed away at the age of 90.
While addressing attendees at the funeral, Governor Otti acknowledged that he had intended to order the immediate completion of the road. However, after consulting with the Commissioners for Works and Budget & Planning, it was discovered that the project was not included in the 2025 Abia State budget.
Despite this, Governor Otti assured the people that there was no cause for concern, as the project would be accommodated through virement, an amendment to the state budget that allows for the reallocation of funds to pressing projects.
He further disclosed that before the House of Representatives member for Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, formally requested that he address the road issue, the son of the late Eze, Dr. Marizu Uche, had also raised concerns about its completion.
In his tribute to the late Eze Ukaonu William Uche, Ph.D, Governor Otti described him as a man of integrity, a defender of the defenceless, and a firm believer in hard work. He emphasized that the late traditional ruler had dedicated his life to the service of his people and the development of his community, making a significant impact that would not be forgotten.
Encouraging the bereaved family to take solace in his legacy, Governor Otti noted that People like him are rare to find these days, adding that his work on earth had been completed.
During the funeral, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe reinforced the importance of the Amorji - Abaiyi - Isi-Court Road project, stating that it was one of the unfulfilled wishes of the late Eze. He revealed that the previous administration had planned to commission the road while it was still incomplete, but the community resisted, questioning why an unfinished project would be inaugurated. The past government had responded that they were commissioning only the first phase, promising to return for the second phase promise that was never fulfilled.
The funeral service was attended by several key government officials and notable personalities, including:
Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D Chief of Staff to the Governor
Mr. Kingsley Anosike Commissioner for Budget and Planning
Dr. Matt Ekwuruibe Commissioner for Culture and Creative Economy
Mazi Ugochukwu Okoroafor Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation
Hon. Innocent Uruakpa Mayor of Isialangwa North
Prof. Chimezie Omeonu Vice Chancellor of Clifford University
Governor Otti assurance of completing the Amorji - Abaiyi - Isi-Court Road aligns with his broader commitment to infrastructure development in Abia State. His administration has been focused on addressing abandoned and poorly executed projects left by previous governments, ensuring that road networks are completed to improve economic activities and the well-being of residents.
With his latest pledge, the people of Isialangwa North can look forward to a completed road that will enhance transportation, business opportunities, and overall connectivity in the area before the end of the year.
