Gov. Otti Urges Igbo Leaders to Speak Boldly, Explains Security Fund Initiative

Governor Alex Otti has called on prominent Igbo leaders to remain bold, vocal, and proactive in shaping the future of the South East and mentoring the next generation. He made this call during a meeting with the Igbo Leaders of Thought, led by Prof. Elochukwu Amuchiazi, at the Government House, Umuahia.
Addressing the delegation, Otti emphasized that leadership at all levels must inspire courage, vision, and resilience among the youth. He also highlighted his administration’s strides in restoring security and dignity to Abia State.
“We’ve reclaimed communities from bandits and created an environment where businesses can thrive again. Our Security Trust Fund is part of that push—not just for safety, but for jobs and long-term economic stability,” Otti said.
He reaffirmed that the Abia Security Trust Fund, recently launched, is already helping the state fight insecurity and open new opportunities for young people.
Prof. Amuchiazi commended the Governor’s dedication to the advancement of Ndigbo, describing his leadership as bold and focused. Also speaking, Prof. Obasi Igwe called for federal support in dredging the Imo River, which he said would open up a South East seaport and connect the region directly to the Atlantic Ocean—a move he believes would boost trade, create jobs, and reduce economic isolation.
The meeting had in attendance several top Abia government officials and was described as a meaningful engagement between the government and leading intellectual voices in Igboland.
