ABSU Governing Council Hails Governor Alex Otti for Clearing 11-Month Salary Arrears and Sustaining Regular Payment
Abia State University leadership hails Governor Alex Otti for clearing 11-month salary arrears and sustaining regular staff salary payments, praising his commitment to staff welfare and educational development.

The leadership of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his intervention in the welfare of the University workforce through the full liquidation of the 11-month salary arrears inherited from the previous administration.
In a statement issued by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Dr. Agwu U. Agwu, the University described Governor Otti’s action as a clear demonstration of his commitment to purposeful governance, staff welfare, and stability in the education sector.
Dr. Agwu, speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, commended the Governor for his pragmatic leadership style which has restored industrial peace and harmony in the institution. He assured that the Council will continue to justify the Governor’s confidence by working tirelessly towards achieving the University’s mandate and contributing to the State’s development agenda.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, also praised Governor Otti for ensuring regular payment of staff salaries and extending uncommon support to the institution since assuming office as the 5th democratically elected Governor of Abia State.
Professor Okeudo described Governor Otti as a “promise keeper” whose administration has set a new standard for responsible governance and prioritization of human capital development. He further assured, on behalf of the staff and students, that the University community will continue to support the Governor’s visionary leadership for the advancement of the State.
