Abia State Government Debunks Claims of Interference in EFCC Activities

The Abia State Government has firmly debunked recent reports alleging its interference in the operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies. The government has described the claims as entirely false, malicious, and politically motivated, urging the public to disregard them in their entirety.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the government emphasized that it maintains a policy of non-interference in the affairs of legitimate federal agencies, including the EFCC. It stressed that the state has never and will never attempt to shield or defend individuals under investigation for financial or other crimes.
“The reports attached herewith are as fake as the person or persons behind them and should be completely ignored,” the statement read. “Abia State Government does not meddle in the activities of legitimate government agencies like the EFCC and other sister anti-graft agencies, let alone do so in defence of suspected fraudsters.”
The statement also described the news as part of an orchestrated campaign by opposition elements bent on tarnishing the image of the current administration and misrepresenting its genuine efforts to reposition Abia for growth and transparency.
“These reports, like similar ones circulated in recent times, are part of an ill-motivated plot by embittered opposition elements to mislead the public and cast Abia in a bad light,” it added.
The Abia State Government reiterated its commitment to transparency, good governance, and accountability, assuring residents that no amount of false propaganda will derail its focus on delivering democratic dividends to the people.
