Abia Police recover 56 missing cattle

In a prompt response to recent security concerns, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, along with his entourage, visited the Lokpanta cattle market in Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA) and Eziama Nunya community in Isuikwuato LGA for an on-the-spot assessment. This visit followed a report of an attack by unidentified assailants that left one person injured and 65 cattle missing from the area.
During the visit, CP Danladi Isa extended his heartfelt sympathies to members of the affected communities. He reassured them of the Police Command’s unwavering commitment to thoroughly investigating the attack and ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The Commissioner urged the residents to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with law enforcement during the investigation.
A statement issued by ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, confirmed the Command's progress in recovering 56 out of the 65 missing cattle. The recovery was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Police and local guards from the Seriki Hausa community. ASP Chinaka also revealed that efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining cattle and track down the assailants responsible for the attack.
“To expedite justice, the Command, in collaboration with local guards from Seriki Hausa, has successfully recovered 56 of the missing cattle. Intensive operations are in progress to track down the remaining cattle and apprehend the assailants,” the statement read.
The visit and subsequent actions taken by the Police are part of broader efforts to address security challenges in Abia State, particularly in vulnerable areas such as cattle markets and rural communities. CP Danladi Isa reaffirmed that the safety of citizens remains the Police Command's top priority and assured the public that the Police would continue working diligently to maintain peace and order.
