Abia Police Command Arrests Suspected Armed Robbers And Cultists, Recovers Pistol, Cartridges, Machete, And Tricycle
Abia Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and cultists in Umuagu during a stop-and-search operation. Recovered items include a pistol, live cartridges, machete, axe, face mask, Indian hemp, and an autorickshaw. CP Danladi Isah urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The Abia State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and cultists and recovered dangerous weapons along with an auto-rickshaw during a late-night stop-and-search operation.
According to a statement from the Command, the suspects were apprehended on August 23, 2025, at about 9:30 pm by operatives of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) while conducting routine checks at Umuagu by School Signboard.
The police disclosed that operatives flagged down a blue autorickshaw with registration number MBL 801 VJ, carrying five occupants including the rider. Upon stopping, the rider pretended the tricycle had developed a fault, allowing two of the occupants to jump out and escape. However, three suspects were successfully apprehended.
The arrested suspects are:
- Udaka Justin, male, 36 years, from Akata Village, Orlu East LGA, Imo State
- Chukwuebuka Michael Nnebedun, male, 24 years, from Arondizuagu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State
- Prince David, male, 24 years, from Arodizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State
A search conducted on the suspects and their tricycle led to the recovery of the following exhibits:
- One locally made short pistol
- Three live cartridges
- One double-edged machete
- One battle axe
- One black face mask
- One sachet of substances suspected to be Indian hemp
- The autorickshaw (keke napep) used for their movement
The Police confirmed that the suspects and the exhibits have been taken into custody while investigations continue to track down their fleeing accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isah, assured residents that the Command is fully committed to reducing crime to the barest minimum. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
