Abia Government to Host International Summit, Eyes Turkish Investors for Strategic Partnerships

In a bold step to position Abia State as a hub for foreign direct investment (FDI), the Abia State Government (ABSG) has concluded plans to host an International Investment Summit and Exhibition later this year, targeting investors from around the globe, with a special focus on Türkiye.

The three-day summit, organised in partnership with Vega Growing Global Enterprise, is scheduled to take place in November 2025 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia. The event aims to bring together a wide array of stakeholders—government officials, business leaders, international development agencies, and investors—from both local and international fronts.

According to High Chief Green Amakwe, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), and Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Turkey–Abia (TURAB) Investment Summit/Exhibition 2025, the initiative is geared towards unlocking the vast investment opportunities in Abia State.

“It is an FDI exposition for international and local investors to explore the possibilities of Abia State and the many advantages it has as a preferred investment destination in Nigeria and Africa,” Amakwe said on Tuesday.

He added that the summit would serve as a platform for trade promotion, joint ventures, and collaboration, especially between Turkish investors and Abia’s key sectors, including agriculture, agro-allied industries, textiles, leather and shoe production, energy, solid minerals, warehousing, and infrastructure.

  • Promoting international trade and export-oriented investments in critical sectors of the state.
  • Establishing partnerships and joint venture projects between Abia State and Turkish business entities.
  • Fostering cooperation between Abia and other Nigerian states with investment ties to Türkiye.
  • Strengthening Nigeria–Türkiye diplomatic and economic relations.
  • Boosting investor confidence in Abia as a reliable and strategic business destination.

Amakwe noted that this summit is an essential part of the Otti-led administration’s broader economic reform strategy aimed at attracting foreign capital and boosting economic development across the state.

He further emphasized the governor’s commitment to creating an enabling business environment, improving infrastructure, and removing bureaucratic bottlenecks that discourage investment.

“Governor Alex Otti is fully committed to creating a more favourable investment environment for both local entrepreneurs and international investors,” Amakwe affirmed.

The Abia State Investment Summit 2025 is expected to reinforce Abia’s image as a rising economic powerhouse in Nigeria and Africa. With Turkish investors already enjoying a positive perception in Nigeria, the summit may pave the way for long-term partnerships that could reshape the industrial and economic landscape of the state.
