The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi, has charged senior officers of the Command to uphold discipline, professionalism, and integrity while carrying out their duties. He made this call during a strategic meeting held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Team Commanders, and Departmental Heads of the Command.
The meeting focused on the recent directives of the Inspector General of Police and the need for officers in Abia State to align fully with the vision of the Nigeria Police Force.
In his address, CP Danladi strongly cautioned officers against misconduct and practices that bring disrepute to the Force. He listed several prohibited acts, including:
- Involvement in civil disputes.
- Acts of unprofessionalism and extortion.
- Improper dressing while on duty.
- Over-detention of suspects in non-felonious cases.
- Poor documentation of complaints and reports.
- Posting crime suspects’ faces on social media.
- Unauthorized transfers of officers on one-year attachment.
- Acts of impunity and misconduct.
To strengthen policing in the state, CP Danladi revealed that overt and covert operational strategies have been set up to ensure the safety of Abia residents, protection of officers, and security of firearms. He stressed that there must be zero tolerance for loss of personnel or arms during operations. He further directed that all community-reported cases must first undergo proper preliminary investigations before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution.
The Police Commissioner urged officers to lead by example, reminding them that leadership is best demonstrated through conduct and service. He encouraged them to keep improving professionally in order to deliver quality policing. He also advised them to plan early for retirement, maintain good health, and stay committed to service.
On enforcement matters, CP Danladi announced that the enforcement of tinted glass permits would begin on October 2, 2025. He warned officers against exploiting the exercise for extortion and urged them to conduct the checks with professionalism and fairness.
He commended the officers for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state and charged them to remain steadfast in protecting lives and property.
