The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has announced that Governor Dr. Alex Otti has approved the immediate release of funds for the restoration of public electricity in Ohafia, with the project scheduled for completion by December 2025.
Engr. Emetu made the disclosure on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, during a strategic meeting with members of the Ohafia Young Professionals Forum in Abuja. The dialogue focused on development opportunities for Ohafia and Abia State at large.
During the session, the Deputy Governor emphasized the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development, highlighting several projects already underway in Ohafia.
Key points outlined include:
- Ongoing construction of critical road networks such as the Asaga to Amuke road and multiple internal roads within Amaekpu Ohafia to improve connectivity and boost local economic activity.
- Construction and equipping of modern health centres and schools across Ohafia to raise healthcare and education standards.
- Appointment of qualified Ohafia indigenes to key positions in government, demonstrating the administration’s trust in local talent.
Engr. Emetu pledged that such interactive sessions would be institutionalized and extended to Ohafia communities in other major Nigerian cities. He urged continued support for Governor Otti’s administration, describing it as a new era of positive and tangible progress for both Abia State and the Ohafia community.
The meeting was convened by Elder Barr. Uma Ntima, Chief Chester Uche, and Chief Mrs. Nkechi Jacob, who all expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor for his accessibility and commitment to direct engagement.
