2027: Bishop Eke Warns Abia North Against Supporting Bourdex, Labels Him Too Clannish to Lead

Senior Pastor of Kingly People’s Assembly, Bishop Silas Eke, has strongly cautioned the people of Ohafia, Nkporo, and other communities in Abia North Senatorial District against supporting the senatorial ambition of businessman and politician Chief David Ogba Onuoha (Bourdex).

Speaking during a church event, Bishop Eke described Bourdex as a clannish politician who lacks the temperament and inclusive leadership qualities required to represent the entire Abia North at the Senate in 2027.

The cleric recalled Bourdex’s past tenure as Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area, alleging that his leadership was narrowly focused on Abiriba interests, while other communities were sidelined.

“Everything he did was Abiriba-centred. He polarised his own clan, caused divisions among leaders, and failed to demonstrate the temperament needed for leadership. Someone who cannot hold his own clan together has no business representing a whole senatorial district,” Bishop Eke stated.

Bishop Eke further accused the Abiriba-born politician of once again displaying clannish bias in the ongoing voter registration exercise by mobilising primarily his Abiriba kinsmen while neglecting Ohafia, Nkporo, and other communities in the senatorial zone.

“Ohafia and Nkporo, alongside other communities in Abia North, will not support a man like Bourdex. Someone who thinks only of his own people and has no regard for others. Let him bury that senatorial ambition,” he declared.

The fiery cleric also issued a strong message to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, urging him not to allow “clannish politicians” like Bourdex to distract or derail his reform agenda.

He praised the current representation of Abia North at the Senate by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK), describing him as a bridge-builder who has attracted visibility and projects to the zone.

“Governor Otti should ignore people like Bourdex in the political equation. Abia North already has a ranking senator in Orji Uzor Kalu who is doing a very good job at the national level. That is the kind of leadership we need, not someone who will divide us further,” Bishop Eke stressed.

According to Bishop Eke, Abia North requires a leader with maturity, calmness, and unity of purpose, not a polarising figure driven by narrow community interests.

“Abia North needs a bridge-builder, a leader with calmness and maturity, not a polarising figure with no control over his temperament,” he concluded.
