Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu blames Natural Disasters for destroying roads he attracted to Abia North
In a recent address to ward Chairmen of the OUK Movement at his Camp Neya home in Igbere, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu highlighted the pressing issues facing Abia North Senatorial District. He emphasized that natural disasters such as erosion, climate change, and flooding have significantly impacted the region, complicating infrastructural developments he had facilitated.
Senator Kalu lamented the destructive effects of heavy rainfall, citing specific instances like the recent flooding that washed out portions of the Ugwueke road. Responding to claims of poor construction on the road he facilitated, he attributed the damage to the unprecedented rainfall and reiterated his commitment to addressing such challenges.
He stated, "Heavy rainfall around this month destroyed the radio station I have here in Igbere; if you go behind my house, the erosion menace there is terrible."
Despite the setbacks caused by natural disasters, Senator Kalu expressed pride in the development projects he has brought to Abia North Senatorial District. He asserted that his focus on infrastructure was driven by a deep love for his people and a commitment to their progress.
"The level of natural disasters that is happening in Abia North and Nigeria is causing havoc to some of the things that we are doing," he acknowledged. "Our people should appreciate what we are doing for them."
Senator Kalu also used the platform to urge continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized the efforts of the administration in improving the lives of Nigerians amidst challenging economic conditions.
"I know things are very tough. It is not easy anywhere, but the president is working very hard to make things easy for all," he assured his supporters.
