We Came With A Covenant To Serve All Abians, Not A Few People – Gov. Otti Assures Of Uncompromised High Standard Service Delivery To The People

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed his commitment to serve every Abian with fairness, dedication, and uncompromised excellence, stressing that his covenant with the people is to deliver high-standard governance that benefits all, not a select few.

The Governor made the declaration on Sunday, November 2, during a worship service at the All Saints Cathedral, Abayi Umuocham, in the Diocese of Aba Ngwa North, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). Governor Otti, known for attending churches unannounced, joined the congregation in thanksgiving and fellowship.

Addressing the church, Governor Otti expressed deep gratitude to the Christian community for their continuous prayers and support, acknowledging their role as vessels through which God brought his administration into power.

“I want to thank all of you for allowing God to use you to bring us to come and serve you. It is God that made it possible, and He used you as His instruments,” Otti said.

Speaking about his covenant and faith in divine timing, the Governor recalled his political journey and the lessons learned from patience and perseverance. “When we came, we came with a covenant to serve Abia people from A to Z, not a few elites. God has His own time. In 2015, we won, but it wasn’t His time. He asked us to wait, and we did. Waiting on God’s time brings success and peace,” Otti said.

He assured Abians that his government remains focused on delivering tangible results that directly improve the lives of citizens. “This government will continue to serve you. Parents with children in public schools know that from this year, there are no school fees for primary and basic secondary levels. That is how we serve you,” he explained.

Governor Otti also highlighted the massive investments in healthcare across the state, noting that many Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) have been renovated and equipped to world-class standards. “When you visit our new health centers, you’ll notice the difference. We insist on high standards because Abians deserve quality service. Healthcare in Abia is now accessible and affordable,” he said.

Reflecting on his administration’s progress, the Governor emphasized that the achievements recorded so far were made possible despite inheriting a system riddled with decay. “We have used the past 29 months to stabilize the system. Those amazed at what has been achieved so far, you haven’t seen anything yet. The next phase will deliver even more,” Otti assured.

He urged the Church to continue praying for the government to have the wisdom and resources needed to sustain development efforts across the state.

Delivering the sermon, the Cathedral Administrator, Ven. Precious Okereke, Ph.D, spoke on the theme, “Transformed to His Glory,” drawn from 2 Corinthians 3:18. He reminded Christians that transformation begins from the heart, and true change requires deliberate and sincere commitment to reflect Christ in both character and action.

The Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nathan C.O. Kanu, Ph.D, led the congregation in fervent prayers for Governor Otti, his family, and his administration. He commended the Governor for the visible progress in Abia State and prayed that God would strengthen him to complete his mission through an impactful eight-year tenure.

Governor Otti attended the service alongside Hon. Fyne Ahuama (Osisioma South), Hon. Iheanacho Nwogu (Osisioma North), Sir Emmanuel Nwaeze Oti (Acting State Chairman, Labour Party), Hon. Chibueze Nwokocha (Commissioner for Labour and Productivity), Hon. Chidi Agu (Mayor of Osisioma LGA), and other senior government officials.

Governor Otti’s message reinforced his administration’s focus on equity, transparency, and service delivery driven by the people’s mandate and divine direction.
